It has come to our attention that a statement has been released on the RSF limerick web site from Joe Lynch limerick this statement is bogus and had been hacked 3 weeks ago. A statement was issued on the RSF Leinster Facebook page that any statement released was not been issued on behalf of the Republican Movement

January 2, 1902 / October 2, 2007(2007-10-02) (aged 105)
Dan Keating was born and raised in the townland of Ballygamboon, Castlemaine, County Kerry. He received his education in local schools, including the Christian Brothers School in Tralee. Tralee was also the place where Keating did his apprenticeship. During this time he became a skillful Gaelic football player in his native Kerry.
Keating joined Fianna Éireann in 1918. In 1920, during the Irish War of Independence, he joined the Boherbee B Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Kerry Brigade, Irish Republican Army. On 21 April 1921, Royal Irish Constabulary Constable Denis O’Loughlin was shot dead in Knightly public house in Tralee. Keating, Jimmy O’Connor and Percy Hanafin were suspected of the killing, and were forced to go on the run. On 1 June, Keating was involved in an ambush between Castlemaine and Milltown which claimed the lives of 5 RIC men. On 10 July, a day before the truce between the IRA and British forces, Keating’s unit was involved in a gun battle with the British Army near Castleisland. This confrontation resulted in the deaths of four British soldiers and five IRA Volunteers.
Keating opposed the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty and fought on the Republican side in the Irish Civil War. He was involved in operations in counties Kerry, Limerick, and Tipperary, before his column was arrested by Free State Forces. Keating spent seven months in Portlaoise Prison and the Curragh Prison before being released in March 1923.
Keating remained an IRA member for a long time after the Civil War. He was arrested several times during the thirties on various charges. Keating was active in London during the 1939/1940 IRA bombing campaign.
In 1933, he was involved in an attempt to assassinate the leader of the Irish Blue Shirts, Eoin O'Duffy, during a visit to County Kerry. The attack was to happen at Ballyseedy, where forces under O'Duffy's command had carried out a notorious massacre during the Irish Civil War. However, the plot failed when the person travelling with O'Duffy refused to divulge what car the latter would be travelling in.[
Keating subsequently returned to Dublin and worked as a barman in several public houses. He retired and returned to his native Kerry in 1978, living out the rest of his life with relatives in Knockbrack. Until his death he refused to accept a state pension because he considered the 26-county Republic of Ireland an illegitimate state which usurped the 1916 Irish Republic. In 2002, he refused the state's standard €2,500 award to centenarians from president Mary McAleese. After former IRA volunteer George Harrison died in November 2004, Keating became patron of Republican Sinn Féin until his own death. By the time of his death he was the oldest man in Ireland. He was buried in Kiltallagh Cemetery, Castlemaine

Statement from Republican Prisoners Roe 4, Maghaberry. 26.09.12
Roe 4 Republican prisoners Maghaberry have been monitoring for some time now the case of Thomas and Desmond Hamill, Martin Mc Gilloway and Austin Creggan from Dugannan who embarked on a hunger-strike for the right to be moved onto the Republican wing in Maghaberry.
Representatives of Roe 4 Republican prisoners have had a number of meetings with the families of these 4 men and made the suggestion that Independent Councillors be asked to attend these meetings to help resolve the situation. The Independent Councillors were only to happy to attend and agreed to work alongside the families to seek a resolution.
At a very early stage the 4 men and their families were informed that Roe 4 Republican prisoners had accepted the 4 men onto the wing as Republican prisoners.
The administration of Maghaberry were told by Roe 4 prisoners to move the 4 men over to the republican wing. Within days the administration informed Roe 4 prisoners that these men would not be moved over to Roe 4 as a threat was in place against them from another group of Republican prisoners.
Thomas, Desmond, Martin and Austin were advised to end their hunger-strike to allow space to address the decision taken by the administration to deny them their right to be on a Republican wing.
These men are not under threat from any prisoner on Roe 4 and we call on the administration of Maghaberry to move these men over onto Roe 4 immediately.

COUNCILLOR DEMANDS MEN ARE MOVED TO ROE 4 IMMEDIATELY.
Four men from Dungannon who recently embarked on a protest in Maghaberry Prison have requested they are moved to Roe 4 Republican Wing immediately. Brothers, Thomas and Desmond Hamill, Martin Mc Gilloway and Austin Creggan have been accepted by Roe 4 prisoners.
These men embarked on a protest initially, of refusing prison food, due to threats...
and tampering of food by loyalist prisoners, which then progressed to a full hunger strike. During this protest the men lost large amounts of weight and were seen by the prison nurse every day, who weighed them, took urine samples and provided them with dental care.
The families of these men contacted “The Families and Friends Of Republican Prisoners Maghaberry” group who felt that independent mediation was required to resolve this life threatening situation quickly. Independent Republican Councillors Angela Nelson and Padraig Mc Shane and representatives of the group met with the families on Friday 21st September in Belfast. The families informed us that Dessie and Austin came off their protest as they were informed they were accepted by Roe 4 prisoners whilst Martin and Tommy remained on hunger strike awaiting further clarification. The families gave us permission to act on their behalf and we requested the men stopped the hunger strike immediately to give us the space to address the issues. The two men ended their protest after speaking to family members on Saturday evening 22nd September.
A visit was arranged for Tuesday 25th September with Martin Mc Gilloway and Thomas Hamill. Independent Republican Councillor Angela Nelson, Mandy Duffy and a family member visited the two men in Maghaberry and after speaking with us and being reassured they were now Roe 4 prisoners, the men were very upbeat and content. These men will need time to recover physically from this protest, and their fight to be transferred to Roe 4 to be with fellow Republican prisoners will continue. Councillor Angela Nelson said she will continue to work on their behalf until this situation is resolved

have suffered arrests raids and beatings for this.Political status is a right not a privilege.
To date, they have garnered little support from the wider Republican community, which we find to be worrying, especially given the former POW status of one of the four.
As a direct result of having abstained from consuming food for more than a month, these men are now suffering from health issues, including but not limited to, Urinary Tract Infections and severe stomach cramps. A drastic amount of weight has been lost, by each of the individuals, and this is undoubtedly a worrying factor.
Pro-British media outlets, have largely ignored the situation and are refusing to report on the dire circumstances that are occurring. It is with this in mind, that we once again call for Irish Republicans to stand as one and fight this injustice.
If personal political feelings are a stumbling block, we implore you to look at this situation from a humanitarian angle, much like in the case of Brendan Lillis.
It is with much regret, that it also comes to our attention that elements are attempting to belittle and undermine the four, by publicly stating that they are not on a hunger strike, and are instead only refusing to accept prison prepared food. This is not true.
To clarify, the men in question are surviving on fluids alone. They have not been succumbing to ''tuck shop'' treats, nor sitting down to ''ready meals'' in the prison canteen. The speculation on multiple platforms is enabling no one, but those whom seek to divide Republicans further.
We still wait , regarding the implementation of the Steele Report, which had been scheduled to be heard at Belfast High Court earlier in the month, but for reasons unknown to us, it never transpired.
To end do not remain silent, nor stand idly by, whilst the plight of four Irish men continues to occur without intervention.

Hunger Strike Statement
Dear Editor,
I was shocked when, I became aware that on 14th August 2012 four well known Tyrone Republican prisoners were forced to undertake a Hunger Strike. This is because they are been denied access to Republican landings in Maghaberry prison. They are still on Hunger Strike as i write this letter.
These prisoners are on remand because they were arrested and charged by crown forces. Every aspect of there arrest questioning and detention points to the fact of a suspicion by the authorities as to a political offence.
I have also come aware that they are been denied political status Not by there captors, but by a minuscule political organisation with its headquarters at 223 Parnell street , Dublin.
As a life long Republican and former member of the National H-Block committee and chairman and founding member, I find it unbelievable that any one would deny these men political status. I know that some of those denying were at one time members of there local H-Block committees. I must ask have they forgotten this or are they ashamed of that part of their lives.
I would take this opportunity to remind them that one of the slogans of the National H-Block committee,
POLITICAL STATUS IS A RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE

, commenced a hunger-strike on August 14th. We are told that these men wish to be recognised as political prisoners. They include brothers Dessie and Tommy Hamill, Austin Creggan and Mark McGilloway. All have recently been separated within the jail. They desire to be reunited and allocated cells on what they term the “Republican landing”, or wing.
Our investigations aroused grave concern. Various activities, by what are described as “LVF prisoners” have created a situation whereby they feel that they are under serious physical threat. One incident involved the placing of an aerosol can in a microwave oven, which fortunately these men discovered, and removed, before any serious harm could occur. Following that incident these remand prisoners feel they are being harassed by prison staff because the blame has been wrongly placed on them for this provocative and dangerous action. Subsequent to the micro-wave incident they were refused the use of canteen facilities.Such was their state of mind and level of stress they agreed to cook for themselves so as to guarantee their own well-being. However, this was not permitted by prison staff when each of them was banned from using canteen facilities. Before deciding to engage in a hunger protest their sole food-intake was based on purchases from the prison’s ‘tuck-shop’.
Tommy Hamill, the father of two children, has lost 23 pounds in body-weight since August 14th. As is customary, the Civil Rights Network issues this communication based on humanitarian concerns rather than any other considerations, such as religious or political affiliations of those incarcerated. In the past we took a stand with loyalist families and their supporters who opposed the re-introduction of show-trials as in 2009-11, and publicly shared a platform in Derry on the Oct. 5th 1968 civil rights anniversary, when a cross-community Social Justice Network was mutually agreed and launched on Internet sites such as Facebook .... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Social-Justice-Network/295482213811643
Cathleen Knowles McGuirk RIP
The sad news that our comrade Cathleen Knowles McGuirk had passed away, circulated through the movement on Saturday morning, 1st September, 2012. Born into a family with a strong Republican tradition, Cathleen worked every day of her life for the restoration of the Sovereign Republic, which was put down in blood in 1922/'23. She held many senior positions throughout the decades, including Árd Rúnaí of Sinn Féin in the 1970's.
At a critical period in the struggle, when a new leadership of Republican Sinn Féin was formally established, Cathleen again took on the position of Joint General Secretary, sharing the duties with our murdered comrade, Liam Kenny, RIP. Her presence on the Árd Comhairle, with the late Paddy McKenna of Armagh, was a major boost to those in the movement who wished to hold fast to the true path to freedom for the Irish People. Together with other senior members RSF, they give continuity of struggle to those of us who now stand in the Bearna Bhaoil.
Cathleen’s North Cork's roots were very important to her and she was very proud of her uncle's contribution to Cork hurling and in particular to Ballyhea. It was a district she loved to return to. She was also very proud of her father's work as a volunteer and of the important position he held as Brigade Adjutant of the Glasgow IRA.
She was delighted recently to have made a donation of his papers to UCD and the Head of history at the University wrote to Cathleen stressing how important the papers were.
We offer our sincere condolences to her family and feel privileged to have served in the struggle for Irish freedom with such a noble, true and dedicated volunteer.

RIP Cathleen Knowles McGuirk
It is with great sadness that the republican movement learns of the passing of Cathleen Knowles McGuirk, General Secretary of Republican Sinn Féin and Volunteer of the Irish Republican Army. Cathleen was a lifelong republican, who never strayed from the one true path to the Irish Republic. Cathleen is a great loss to Republican Sinn Féin and to the wider republican movement

East Tyrone Republicans
Day 18:
Four Irish Republican prisoners continue to hunger strike in Maghaberry prison for the right to be housed on a Republican landing. These men in question requested to be put on a Republican landing only to be told by the prison authorities that there was an objection from another organisation.
While this was been discussed an attempt was placed on the lives of the men. Loyalist paramilitaries aligned to the LVF had placed an areosol connected to batteries in a microwave that was turned on fully only to be discovered by one of the four lads while he was preparing food . Thankfully the device did not detonate, as it was discovered in time. The four men had been confined to their cells as the screws blamed them on the device.
Since then they were not allowed access to the canteen to prepare there own meals, so they decided to withdraw from eating prison food as of fear there food would be contaminated. The four men continued to eat from the tuck shop as access was granted from the screws until a dispute broke out over regaining access to the canteen. The men wanted to prepare there own food again and because of this the four men have now been seperated. Dessie Hamill and Austin Creggan have been placed on one landing while Tommy Hamill and Mark McGilloway have been placed on another, as a result of this the men went on FULL hunger strike on 14/08/2012.
A phone call was recieved from Dessie Hamill on friday 31/08/2012 in which he gave an update on how they are:
"All four lads are still on full hunger strike, our spirits are still high in the hope of a resolution and gainning access to the Republican landing. We dont have much access to each other as the threat on our lives remain from the LVF, so we dont leave our cells except for visits and phone calls. We may have short conversation when passing each other. Tommy was weighed by the doctor and he has lost 23lbs in 2 weeks". A short coversations continues and as the phone goes dead he says "keep the flames lit lads". These are the words of an Irish Republican on his 17 day of hunger strike.
The road to freedom is paved with suffering, hardships and torture; carry on my gallant and brave comrades until that certain day. Tom Williams
We the family, friends and members of The Irish Republican Prisoners Committee are calling on all Republicans to support these men, regardless of personal opinion or agenda. These men are at the mercy of the British, it is your duty as Irish Republicans, to bring attention to their plight. They were incarcerated on charges of a political nature and as such have earned the right to be classed as Republican POWs. We will keep you updated on any further news and dates of protests if this matter is not resolved.
Thank you all for your support ..... "victory to the POWs"
If you strike at, imprison, or kill us, out of our prisons or graves we will still evoke a spirit that will thwart you, and perhaps, raise a force that will destroy you! We defy you! Do your worst! James Connolly

Republican landings, as there is reportedly an objection from another organisation.
Whilst steps were being taken to resolve this matter, there was a threat issued against the four Republicans, from paramilitaries aligned to the LVF. They are currently declining to eat prison food, as it is their belief that it will be contaminated, given that there had been a previous attempt on their lives, as they endeavoured to prepare their own food. On this occasion, an aerosol can connected to batteries, was placed in the microwave and the power activated, just before they entered the room. Thankfully, it was a failed bid, the device did not detonate, as it was discovered in time.
The screws blamed the Republicans and confined them to their cells, refusing them entrance to the canteen area, resulting in them losing the opportunity to ensure that their own meals were safe to consume. One of the four, has lost 20lbs in weight since this despicable situation has emerged, and the remaining three have underlying health problems.
The prison authorities have now dispersed the lads around the prison. We are calling on all Republicans to support these men, regardless of personal opinion or agenda. Dessie Hamill and his comrade Austin Creggan were both arrested and charge with possession of firearms and robbery. Detectives in the case against the 2 men believe the pair were engaged in operational terrorist activity at the time of there arrests. During a bail application by both defendants, a Detective Constable from the PSNI said that, during interview, Hamill and Creggan did not answer any questions, save to deny membership of the Continuity IRA. Opposing bail on the grounds that he believed the defendants would interfere with witnesses, the Detective Constable also claimed there was a likelihood of the two men carrying out further “terrorist offences".
These four men are Republicans and will not be treated as Criminals by the crown .
VICTORY TO ALL POWS ... TAL
Maghaberry Hunger Strike
Statement from Séamus Ó Súilleabháin, Uachtaráin, Sinn Féin Poblachtach.
The very serious situation in Magaberry prison, where four Irish Republican prisoners are on the eight day of hungerstrike, requires immediate action from those who have the power to rectify the situation within the prison. The criminalization of Republicans will never be acceptable. The four men must be allowed on to the Republican wing. We call on all Irish Republicans and Nationalists to support the just claims of our comrades. On Sunday, 19th August, Enda Kenny claimed his administration had retrieved and reinstated the values of the Murder Regime of 1922/23 and put them at the heart of government policy. This has grave implications for the developing situation in Six County jails. Throughout Irish history, the Hunger Strike has been the ultimate peaceful protest available to our people. It is never used lightly. The four men on hunger strike, Tommy Hamill, Desmond Hamill, Austin Creggan and Mark McGilloway deserve the support of all Irishmen and Irishwomen

MURDERED REPUBLICAN LEADER TO BE
REMEMBERED AT GRAVESIDE COMMEMORATION
A Republican leader murdered by drug dealers in Dublin a
year ago will be remembered this weekend when a special
event takes place in Palmerstown cemetery on Saturday,
Assemble 16.30 at Palmerstown Shopping Centre
Liam Kenny of Clondalkin was gunned down on
8th June last year by drug dealers who objected to his
anti-drugs drive in his local community.
Last night Joe Lynch from Limerick, the national
spokesperson for Republican Sinn Féin said that
so far no one has been before the Free State courts in relation
to the murder of the Dublin man.
“Liam Kenny was a lifelong Republican who was
murdered by drug dealers who prey on vulnerable
young people. He died defending his community
from the activities of drug gangs.
“At a time of unprecedented financial crisis when the most
deprived people in society are being targeted by the politicians
to pay the price for the criminal actions of the bankers and speculators,
the drug dealers are spreading their misery in the community,
and the official response is to turn a blind eye. This inaction is
a national scandal.
“The RSF President Seamus O’Suilleabhain from Broadford
will deliver the oration to remember Liam Kenny and his
example to young people to strive for a new and united
Ireland with the values of the Easter Proclamation as
guiding principles
REPUBLICAN WOMAN PRISONER LANDS LITERARY AWARD
A Republican women prisoner has scooped a top literary
prize from among over twelve thousand students at the
City of Dublin VEC Sports and Cultural Council.
Rose Lynch from Limerick was presented with her
trophy by English literature tutor Margaret Cronin
at a ceremony in the Dochas centre attached to
Mountjoy prison.
The Limerick woman who comes from a well known
Republican family won the literature award for her
study entitled Heroes of Ireland.
Last night the President of Republican Sinn Fein, historian
Seamus O’Suilleabhain from Broadford said that Rose
Lynch had demonstrated her knowledge of Irish history
and her literary flair by landing the SCC award.
The SCC is a unique body in the Irish Vocational Educational
system. Founded in 1935, the City of Dublin VEC’s Sports and
Cultural Council promotes and co-ordinates inter-school sporting and
cultural events for the 12,000 students in the CDVEC’s 22 schools and
colleges, as well as, in the Free State Prison Service.
The aims of the SCC are to educate, organise, promote and encourage
students to develop their abilities through participating in a wide range
of sporting and cultural events. In its own unique way, the SCC meets
the needs of the CDVEC students, young/old, male/female, Irish/non Irish,
by encouraging participation for all. It is a model that works well having
adapted and changed throughout its long history, to meet the ever changing
and diverse needs of students
